SONS OF GOD and SONS OF MEN!

SONS OF GOD and SONS OF MEN!

What is the Difference?

Spirit gives birth to spirit; flesh gives birth to flesh.

Sons of God have a spiritual nature that is in total contrast to the sons of men!

Sons of God share in the holy nature of God; sons of men share in the sinful nature of Adam.

“… as many as received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,

nor of the will of man, but of God.”

  • JOHN 1:12-13

Sons of men are natural-born sinners. They are born of the flesh and blood of the sin-bound natural man, in the similitude of Adam and Eve. They are carnal-minded; born in sin according to the will of man. In them the old man of sin is still very much alive; not yet crucified (for only in Christ can he be crucified). Therefore, the sinful propensities of the sons of men remain intact in their body (life/lifestyle), so that they have no other choice but to live and die in sin, even in their best days. And because they do not have the divine (righteous) character of God, nor do they share in His divine (holy) nature, sin (sinning) is inherently entwined into their everyday life (lifestyle). And because they are enslaved to sin, even in their best behavior, their inner motivation is impure and wicked before a Holy God.

In humanness, in our mortal bodies, are born in sin and into sin to cooperate with sin and play along with Satan until we die and go to hell. But in Christ we have an abundance of grace extended to us to be born-again. This now enables us to resist sin and rebel against Satan until we have zero tolerance for him. Being born-again through Christ is the only way we can ever receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, share in the holy nature of God, and live righteously till Christ comes to take us home.

BE WARNED!

You will go home with the one whose nature you share:

If Satan, then hell. If Christ, then heaven!

Yes, we are born in sin, but we do not have to die in sin. We can be born-again, so that the old sinful nature, enslaved to sin in the nature of Satan, can be put to death and gone forever; so that the new you, with the nature of God, created in Christ, forever dwells in the joyful presence of God. But this transformation cannot happen without you going through a tangible life-reforming, mind-renewal, and heart-transforming process orchestrated by the Holy Spirit.

“We know that our old self was put to death on the execution-stake with him, so that the entire body of our sinful propensities might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.”

  • Romans 6:6

Sons of God are Children of God. They are those who used to be sinners, but are now spiritually transformed, that is, born-again; not by sinful man, but by God. But the transition from sinfulness to holiness (from unrighteousness to righteousness) does not happen naturally; it happens spiritually, by the Holy Spirit, and manifests physically in our daily life- social, economic and political. The transformation begins with the destruction of the old (sinful) nature. If you are willing, it takes the power of God’s Spirit, through the Lord Jesus Christ, to destroy the old man of sin. With its destruction, you can then begin to live sin-free, just like Jesus lived. Living a righteous and holy life then becomes your new normal.

The more you allow God to destroy the old sinful nature in you, the more your sinful propensities (your ungodly tendencies, your tendency to do wrong) would be destroyed, and the more your lifestyle and life pursuits reflect Christ. But the person who refuses to be transformed will simply retain his sinful nature. Such a person, instead of reflecting the mind of Christ and the heart of the God of Heaven, will remain carnal in his thinking and his lifestyle and life’s pursuit will be worldly. Thus, sons of God are people who are no longer enslaved to sin as they now share in the divine (righteous) character of God and in His holy nature, having power over sin. As their inner motives and interests are being transformed and made pure, they are empowered by the Spirit of God to resist Satan and his cohorts, so that they no longer do what sinners do. Please understand that such a person can still sin, but it will not be by irresistible compulsion; it will be as a deliberate act of his will. If a believer willingly or unwillingly engages in sin, they must immediately repent and change their ways; otherwise, condemnation awaits them.

Hebrews 10:26-27 (CJB): “For if we deliberately continue to sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but only the terrifying prospect of Judgment, of raging fire that will consume the enemies.”

Any believer who deliberately (willingly) sins will receive a deserved punishment according to three biblical counts: They will be charged with:

  1. Trampling underfoot the Son of God,
  2. Treating as common the blood of the covenant,
  3. Insulting the Holy Spirit, the Giver of Grace.

Hebrews 10:28-29 (CJB): “Someone who disregards the Torah of Moshe is put to death without mercy on the word of two or three witnesses. Think how much worse will be the punishment deserved by someone who has trampled underfoot the Son of God; who has treated as something common the blood of the covenant which made him holy; and who has insulted the Spirit, giver of God’s grace!”

Such a person will not enter into the Kingdom of God as they are expected to know better.

According to Psalm 1, the righteous (according to God’s definition) walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful. But their delight is in the law of the Lord; and in God’s law do they meditate day and night. Therefore, they shall be like trees planted by the rivers of water, bringing forth righteous fruits from one season of their life to another; their lives also shall not wither; and whatsoever they do prosper.

NOW, if you are like a brother of mine who strongly believes that his religious piety, along with his good behavior, are good enough to make him righteous enough for heaven and does not believe he needs the help of Jesus Christ, you really need to hear and pay close attention to this:

Even if you have never physically committed a single sin in your life since you have been born into this world, you are still a sinner, for in sin your mother conceived you and gave birth to you:

Psalm 51:7-9:

(5) True, I was born guilty,
was a sinner from the moment my mother conceived me.
8 (6) Still, you want truth in the inner person;
so make me know wisdom in my inmost heart.

9 (7) Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
10 (8) Let me hear the sound of joy and gladness,
so that the bones you crushed can rejoice.
11 (9) Turn away your face from my sins,
and blot out all my crimes.

12 (10) Create in me a clean heart, God;
renew in me a resolute spirit.

A resolute spirit is one that has been trained and equipped

to resist sin and rebel against Satan and all his works.

Sons of God, therefore, are those who have been trained and equipped

by the Holy Spirit to live above their humanness.

What does it mean for someone to live above his humanness?

This is indicative of living above the weaknesses, imperfections, errors and fragility associated with the natural man (human beings).

Please understand that the natural man, that is, sons of men, cannot resist sin and or rebel against Satan. Why? Because they are enslaved to sin, and as such, they do not have what it takes to overcome the power of sin. Such people re dead to righteousness and awakened to sin. They sin naturally. Sinning is first nature to them. Therefore, God considers them as wicked.

The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (see Romans 3:23). And so, anybody who rejects the precious gift of Salvation in Christ will be counted among the wicked- those who are not born-again. The wicked are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore, on the day of judgment, such a person will be condemned to eternal damnation in hell because he has rejected the grace of God and has relied on his own works- human righteousness, which is like filthy rags in the sight of God. They will not be permitted to dwell in the heavenly congregation of the righteous because they failed to pattern their life according to Jesus- the first-born among many brethren, since he is the perfect example and standard to which we are called. Therefore, the sons of men will be regarded as sons of Satan, not sons of God, because, by choice, they chose to retain their old nature, which is in the likeness of Satan-  the one who has been sinning from the beginning (see 1 John 1:8). And as such, while they are languishing in hell, the sons of God will live on in eternal glory and blessings in the presence of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Father and the Holy Spirit.

The question now is, how does one become a son of God? The fact remains that everyone is born a sinner, but not everyone will die a sinner. Some will choose to accept the gift of grace and be converted and saved, while some, for reasons best known to them, will reject the grace of God and be damned forever.

This is the essence of the Gospel: our loving heavenly Father has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires that the wicked turn from his way and live:

‘As I live,’ swears Adonai Elohim, ‘I take no pleasure in having the wicked person die, but in having the wicked person turn from his way and live. So repent! Turn from your evil ways!

  • Ezekiel 33:11 (CJB)

The Father has made extensive possibility, preparation and provision for all to be saved and rescued: For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

  • John3:16

Today, the grace of God, unmerited, is extended to you through the Lord Jesus Christ. It is voluntary; no one is to be forced or coerced to receive it. The message explaining this grace what is called the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This message is to be properly and truthfully preached to everyone, without fear of favor. Anyone who rejects this message of grace rejects the love of God that has been perfectly demonstrated by the Lord Jesus Christ, who died and shed His precious blood for the remission of sin. A person who rejects the grace of God will be rejecting the one and only opportunity to be saved and delivered from a world of sin. And for such a person, nothing else but the full wrath of God awaits them at the end of his life; they will spend eternity in hell.

God is no respecter of persons. There is no favoritism in God. No partiality; everyone is invited to partake of the blessing of salvation. God has no preference for any geographical region, race or people. The power of God to save and to deliver is extended to all. And as many as receive him, to them who believe on his name, He would give the power to become the sons of God; sons born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

“As many as who believe and put their trust in me will I glorify.”

“O ye awon to ba gbamigbo, tio si gbekelemi, lemi yio se logo” (in Yoruba language)

You can change your eternal destiny today and go from death to life (from hell-bound to heaven-bound) by simply acknowledging that you are a sinner and you need a savior. Renounce your sins, Satan, and all his lies and evil works. Accept the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart. If you do this, God will send you His Holy Spirit and your life will never be the same again.

If this is your heart desire, simply pray this prayer of salvation:

Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you are the Son of God and that you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I repent and turn away from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and life. I put my trust in you and I accept you as my Lord and Savior. I want to be part of God’s holy Family. I thank you Father for forgiving me and giving me eternal life with you, Amen.

If you just prayed this prayer for the first time, or you just rededicated your life, we welcome you to the family of God! We would love to pray with you and provide you with resources to help you in your walk with God.
